We use this set on our backporch for eating, sitting, visting with friends and as a smoking as a place for smokers to go. It is a good sturdy set that won't blow away in our wind storms and will hold up when plus size people sit on the chairs. We felt that the set would absorb too much water so we stained our set with the same waterproof stain we used on the porch which was just perfect for us. I would say the set needs waterproofed to make it last even longer. All in all, we are very happy with the table and chairs and our friends were quite impressed, thin and heavy ones, because of the comfort and sturdiness of the chairs.
